Dick Cheney, shut the fuck up or maybe not...

It is unbelievable that the Dark Lord keeps pressing the envelope. It is as if he wants the unseen hand of greek tragedy to bring forth crushing hubris and smite him in a blinding flash of zeus' fury.

It reminds me of Roland Barthes essay on professional wrestling- we know the good guys, we know the bad guys, we all know the eventual outcome. We watch because it fulfills some subconscious human need to see things acted out on the stage; to see good conquer evil, or sometimes evil overtake the good, if only for a moment. We watch Oedipus and Macbeth not in hopes that this time things will work out ok (though Hamlet 2.0 was awesome). We watch because we find resonance in our own personal experiences with the same heights and depths. It replays itself over and over again in history. We can predict the fall of McCarthyism from the first blustery speeches to the height of his arrogance and blacklists. We can see the perversion and corruption coming as the christian right is damning the liberal left for their sins. No one escapes. There is sometimes a dramatic pause, but we can all see the train coming down the track.

Perhaps this is all part of Cheney's deal with the devil, he is forced to play out the second act of this tragedy.

Maybe...

or maybe he should just shut the fuck up, and stop polluting the airwaves with his delusional rants and self justifications. It makes for great Daily Show, and Colbert Report fodder, but it amazes me that he is honestly trying his best to sway public opinion.

I'm not sure. I like that I get motivated every time I hear him or other right wingnuts speak. It's healthy to watch fox news every once in a while to get the blood flowing.

I guess it's just that we are still reeling from the repercussions of the last 8 years of this play. It was horrifying, stupid and it went on far too long. It almost destroyed our country on every level. We know the final act will come, but I have grown so tired that I want to push the fast forward button.

I know we need bad guys in our dramas, comedies and tragedies. So Dick, keep on talking cause it's only going to make us stronger, and make the final act when you are struck down that much more dramatic. Just fucking hurry it up, because my attention is waning. You've been on the stage for too fucking long.
